How to plan your visit to Burj Khalifa

Towering over the ever expanding skyline of Dubai, is the world’s tallest structure – the Burj Khalifa. One of the architectural wonders of the world, the Burj Khalifa is one of the most popular and truly iconic Dubai attraction that is a must-see when you are in Dubai. Our guide will show you how to plan your visit to Burj Khalifa, making sure you skip queues and get to the top of the world pronto.

What to see

You will be intrigued and amazed right from the moment you are in the Burj Khalifa building. Unmissable are the Dubai Fountains which are the musical fountains situated right outside the Burj Khalifa building complex. Complete with a sound and light musical fountain show, this is one of the most popular and most visited attractions in Dubai.

Burj Khalifa building

To go to the top of the Burj Khalifa, go to the ground floor of the Burj Khalifa building, where there are interactive displays of how the building was constructed.

The elevator of the building is another wonder, travelling at an amazing speed of 10 metres per second and with an interactive display indoors, you will surely be amazed and not realise how quick you get to the top of the Burj Khalifa.

When you get to the top either the 124th or 125th floor, there is so much to take in. The views are really vast where you can see the sprawling city of Dubai under your feet and spreading into the desert. If it is a clear day and not too foggy, you might also be lucky to see the World Islands and the Palm Jumeirah Islands.

What ticket options are available

There are two types of tickets –

Burj Kahlifa: At the Top

You get to go to the 124th and 125th floors of the Burj Khalifa. Here also you have an option to skip the line at an extra cost.

Burj Khalifa : At the Top SKY

You get to go to the 124th, 125th and the 148th floors of the Burj Khalifa where you will be served refreshments and pastries on arriving on the 148th floor. A guide will give you a personalised tour when you are up on the 148th floor.

Make sure you book online to avoid the queues and also it is more expensive to book on the spot. When you book a ticket, you will need to choose the entrance time (based on availability). The more popular times such as sunset get filled very fast, booking in advance will help. Remember to carry a print out of the ticket when you head to the reception/office.

Your ticket provides the entrance time however you can stay up at the top as long as you want.

When to visit

The Golden Hour or sunset is probably the best time to visit the Burj Khalifa. This is the time when the whole city of Dubai is covered in golden light and you get views of the city in this twilight hour. Once the lights get switched on, the city dazzles in all its beauty. The Dubai Fountain at the feet of the Burj Khalifa makes for a really nice view.

Weekends tend to be more crowded than weekdays, so I would suggest avoiding weekends.
